Waterside Musical Society was
formed in 1968 and since then has presented 40 major productions of operettas,
musical comedies and musicals plus approximately 150 concerts. Our members
cover a wide range of ages and abilities with a thriving Junior membership.

Our production of The Gondoliers at The Waterside Theatre in November 2003 was acclaimed by audiences, nominated by the Echo for five Curtain Call Awards including Best Opera and received the Award for Best Performance In An Opera for David Putley.
The 2004 production of "Chess" broke all records for ticket sales and was warmly received, winning the Curtain Call Award for best Musical Direction by Lesley Clayton. In November of 2005, the musical Scrooge broke the records once more, in spite of competition from a professional production at the Southampton Mayflower Theatre starring Shane Ritchie of "Eastenders" fame.
